The
measurement committee has arranged a set of scales to
weight the Ms on Saturday 9 February. The plan is to
weigh as many boats as possible and get an accurate
assessment of what each of the boats weighs.
At the last
AGM a rule change was passed that altered the
measurement rule determining boat weight. Boats must
now be weighed in racing condition, minus sails, with
the minimum weight being 450kgs. This move was taken as
it was felt that it was more practicable to measure a
boat in this fashion rather than strip the boat to
facilitate measurement. 450kg was chosen as it was the
weight used in the earlier rules.
On Saturday
9 Feb. we will see what each of the boats weigh and use
the average to validate the 450kgs. As such we would
like as many boats as possible to be weighed. If you
can make your boat available for the check please do
so. This is particularly relevant if you think your
boat will be on either extreme of the anticipated range.
Classic Yachts
Regatta
On Feb. 15 and
16 the Classic Yacht Association will be hosting the
Lindaur Classic Yacht Regatta from the Viaduct Basin.
This regatta is widely contested by a range of Classic
yachts and this years aim is to extend the regatta to
include small boats.
Courses for the M Class will be set alongside the Idle
Along, Zephyrs and FF15s. Two races will be held and
the second race will count toward our normal points
series.
The regatta is a fun experience with plenty of sponsor
support and evening events along with the prize giving
will be hosted in the Viaduct basin.
